OUR STORY
A seed of an idea was planted in 2012 and the initial concept for LCCU originated in 2014, following the sustained challenges in the local banking sector. With the seed having been germinated by a close friend and personal mentor, the Founder over time and through diligent research, conducted extensive analysis to ensure the viability of the idea. With the roots firmly taking hold, the concept was revisited and formalized in February 2017.
After thorough research of co-operative societies in the Caribbean region, the Founder and organizing members determined that the concept would be a viable option for financial services in the island community of Anguilla, and one that is necessary for its economic sustainability and long-term success.
Liberty continues to proudly serve the island of Anguilla and its diaspora, as the sole operational Credit Union to date. Liberty believes in a member/community first approach. Hiring promising young adults, supporting iconic sporting events, investing in educational programs and general outreach are just a few of the ways LibertyCCU is showing our commitment to serving our community.
