Once upon a time, a woman decided that she wanted to buy a car. Nothing fancy, she just wanted to get to work and drop her daughter off at school. She had gotten tired of grief and tired of asking for lifts every time she needed to get somewhere. She was fiercely independent and relying on others was never something she had enjoyed, but she had been left with no choice when the car her late husband bought her years ago broke down.
She felt sure that someday the well of charity would run dry. Although her mother had promised she would always be willing to drive her around, she wanted back the independence she had become accustomed to. So, it was time to make a change. While her community rallied around her in support, she began to formulate a plan.
She climbed up the stairs to Liberty and sat with one of the Member Services Success Team who helped her determine what kind of special savings account was best for her. She chose a Hospitality Savings account. She would save $250 every month with compound interest. This way in three years she would be able to buy a $9,318.52 car.
Today, she walked into the Liberty lobby, head held high and sent off a wire. Her debt-free car will soon be on its way. While she was in office, she thought to herself, I wonder what other goals Liberty could help me out with. Of course, there were many options that were explored to help her build wealth, but that’s a story for another day.
